Episode Guide

basic information

Here are brief summaries of the FLCL series. At the moment I don't have the time to make lengthy summaries, but if I feel to make them longer then I will in the future.

01:Fooly Cooly

フリクリ, Furi Kuri

The scene opens with Naota Nandaba decribing his hometown Mabase as boring and desolate. He's hanging by a bridge with a teenage girl named Mamimi Samejima, who we later find out is Naota older brother's ex-girlfriend. She offers him a drink but claims he "doesn't like sour drinks", which is said throughout the series often. Out of the blue, he gets ran over by a odd woman on a Vespa. After this girl performed "CPR" and revives Naota, she wields her bass guitar at his head and seems disappointed when nothing happens.

Naota returns home shortly afterwards and we're introduced to his father and grandfather and he notices a horn that appears from the area where the myserious lady had hit him. He covers it up with a bandage which grabs the attention of his friends at school, Eri Ninamori, Masashi, and Gaku. He goes to the hospital after school and is acquainted with the Vespa driver once again, as she is disguised as a nurse.

He goes home to find the Vespa driver at his house sitting at the dinner table. His father introduces her as "Haruko Haruhara" and she's going to be their house maid. Later Naota finds Mamimi on the bridge and he informs her that his brother found a new girlfriend in America and she covers her ears, shouting "I'm going to overflow" and then she falls to the ground. As soon as she falls, a robot sprouts from the origin of where he was hit over the head. The robot has a TV-like head and is fully red and it goes after the detached arm that came out of the N.O. channel. Haruko hits the robot over the head with her bass guitar and it loses its reddish colour. The next morning Canti (the robot) is found working in the bakery going chores Haruko should be doing as a house maid.
